*SHE

She ain't the most beautiful one like Venus or Proserpine,

She's deep, mysterious, timeless & with eyes though small, that ALWAYS shine;

She's free-willed and free-spirited,

Yet unassured and inhibited;

She's obstinate and arrogant and critical,

Few know that she's warm, tender and reverential;

Don't put her to test, time after time, and find her wanting,

Hold on to HER today, so tomorrow you're not repenting & longing!!

She - 2

Her mouth curls with contempt,

Her brows gathers in anguish,

Her heart aches in torment

What she held so tight, she starts to relinquish;;

The man she loves, adores & cares,

Thinks she needs guidance & affection but not much else,

Still look at another? Yes he dares!

Why then for him does she walk on eggshells??

How blind can a man be, she thinks,

To get overwhelmed with the other's charm and in that get caught,

To miss her underlying uniqueness & pay it cursory attention,

Ahhh, get carried away by sheer gloss and mere pretension;

And then, in the ocean of life and it's ferocious waves like a jaguar,

She decides to follow her light, be her own lodestar,

She drops her fears and lets go of her inhibition,

She carves her own path and moves on to her expedition;

She breaks the norm and defies the rule,

She is no longer a gentle, docile mule;

She unlearns she knew and learns what she didn't,

Whoa! The man looks at her in awe, regretting his squint!!
